Snow Cream and Magic Boots

I have magic boots. Cool hunh! For some reason Tommy (my ANYTHING to be comfortable child) loves to wear my boots. Any job that needs to be done such as get the mail, bring in the trash can or CLEAN BEHIND THE FRIDGE is tolerable if he can wear my boots. HA. He saw me cleaning behind the fridge last night and decided with the boots on he could jump back there and do it himself. I almost fainted from happiness. He did a GREAT job too! Baseboards and everything. Now, Ill be honest. I was well aware two minutes in that he was wanting a new DS game. I wasn't born yesterday after all. But Marc and I thought it was great that he realized on his own that to get that game he was going to have to EARN it by being a helpful part of the family. He did not sit on the couch crying for a game, he didn't beg me every five minutes for a game he simply saw an opportunity to EARN the game and that said a lot to us.

Then we decided to make snow cream. A completly foregin concept to me but apparently thats how they do it here in the South. HA. So he put on the Magic boots and went in the backyard (to be "Coyote bait") to gather some snow.

He called his Grandmother to get the recipe

And then dove in

Of course brother is always around!

Two things we learned about making snow cream. It melts REALLY fast and don't use the REAL vanilla your Mother in Law brought your from Puerto Rico. It will turn your snow cream brown and your husband will think you did something drastically wrong. LOL

So ridiculously, insanely easy and GOOD!

Im not sure if I have posted this recipe before or not but OH MY is it good! When I say its easy I am not kidding. This has become a staple when we need a easy desert in a pinch (like on vacation when its our turn to cook, LOL) I always use the shortbread crust because Marc likes it so much better. You can also decorate it with cool whip if you would like but its SO yummy it doesnt really need anything done to it. Give it a try and let me know if you like it!

He did GREAT!

You might remember that Tommy volunteered to lead the big monthly meeting for cub scouts last week. He practiced every night for two weeks. I have never seen him so nervous but excited. Lets be honest Marc and I were the NERVOUS ones. We were in the audience just waiting for him to bolt or do something crazy. He marched straight up there and made us two of the proudest parents you could imagine. His face was the color of a tomato and he talked a little low but let me tell you HE DID AWESOME. He didn't go to fast, he took his time, and he looked at the audience. I was so mad that when I went to take video my battery was dead. I couldn't believe it but it was probably better that way. When I say he was nervous I mean it. LOL. SO SO SO PROUD of our boy! He is definitely his fathers son. Shy boy but public speaker......who knew!
Even better, look how proud he was of himself!

My boy LOVES a good potpie!

Tommy LOVES a good potpie lately. He is still a fan of a meatloaf but potpie is moving into first place. I have what I think is the BEST potpie recipe ever. If you want it just comment and Ill send it to you. Daddy had to work late last week so I made the kids a couple mini ones that I thought I would freeze. They never made it to the freezer.

Do you know what that is?

Do you know what that is? That my friends is a big brother taking the time to play with this little brother when all of "his" friends are playing at the top of the street. Tommy had been out playing and as usual Jimmy had no one his age to play with him. Tommy saw him just playing by himself in the front yard so guess who decided to play a little ball. He came running down and told him to get his t ball set and he would play for a little bit. They ended up playing for a long time and then Tommy went back to playing at the top of the street and Jimmy came in for some Diego. HA Some things just warm my heart!
