This is what ten years gets you.
Oct 2nd 1999 at 7:30 in the evening I took my Dads arm and we walked out of the room and turned the corner. The doors were open and there he was. My Marc. It was a time in our lives when everything was up in the air. Families, jobs, homes... when I saw him standing there....I knew it was ok. I new it would be good, I new it would be fun, but never in million years did I know what I would feel for this man 10 years and two sons later. Oh, I do find it funny that everything I fell in Love with about him is the exact thing that drives me crazy ten years later. Funny how that works. LOL It was not until last year that I really looked at the wedding video and was appalled to see how I was looking at him. I know I felt it I just had no idea it was showing so much! Trust me I will post video soon that proves it.
We don't usually take to many vacations. You all know the story, two kids, mortgage, jobs, groceries (those little boogers can eat)...but Marc surprised me and said that we are defiantly going to celebrate our 10 years. The fact that we got married in Oct. should show you that we share a LOVE for the fall. We decided to go to The Dillard House and stay for the weekend. His surprise is that we are going horseback riding through the river. THAT IS MY DREAM PEOPLE! We are also going to eat good food, relax, canoe and shop. As if that was not good enough I heard the temps may be in the 40s! Its almost to much for me to handle. To top it off I'm going shopping in the Highlands, NC for antiques! Life is good!
The Rock House

My girly room I am so excited about...... I take what girly stuff I can get around here!

Cant wait to tour the vineyard....I have always wanted to do that.

Romantic anniversary dinner at a restaurant that is not Applebees 2 for 20!

Don't make fun, I have already picked what I'm getting. YUM!

A teachable moment...
Last night Tommy had his first pack meeting as a Cub Scout. This was his first chance to meet the other boys outside of his den. They had a raffle because they are always trying to raise money. After playing for a bit, Tommy came over to me and asked for $3 for the raffle. Of course, I said no. He accepted the "no" and went about playing once again. He was running and playing all over the gym. I was just sitting back observing him interact with the other Scouts. I notice something laying on the floor in the midst of all the running and jumping. It appeared to be some folded up paper. It wasn't long until Tommy noticed the same piece of folded paper. He runs over to pick it up and then proceeds to stare at it. He then looks up and makes eye contact with me, with the same quizzical look on his face. He then tosses the piece of folded paper over his shoulder. I get up and walk over to see what it was. It was money. Someone had dropped $3 dollars. I told him to pick it up and take it one of the Scout leaders. He said that he wanted to use it for raffle tickets. Here comes the teachable moment. I told him that the money didn't belong to him and that he should turn it in to one of the Scout leaders. (Come on, we all know Scout's are honest and help little old ladies across the street. I couldn't let him keep the money in this type of environment. Besides, I knew that he would be praised for doing this good deed. So encouraged him to turn in the money.) He reluctantly walked up to one of the leaders, standing behind a table. She looked at him and said the raffle tickets are over at the other table. Tommy then speaks up and tells her that he found the money on the floor. The leader then expressed her gratitude and said that he was a great Scout for being so honest. She then asked what his name was. About that time, the Scout Master summoned all the Scouts over to one side of the gym. He then proceeds to call out Tommy's name. Tommy's face is turning bright red as he made his way off the bleachers and down to the leader. The poor little guy had no clue what was about to happen. The Scout Master boasts loudly that Tommy found money that didn't belong to him and turned it in to another leader. The Scout Master then gives Tommy 3, $1 raffle tickets for his good deed. In the end, Tommy got the 3, $1 raffle tickets that he wanted. Oh, by the way, one of those tickets was a WINNER. He actually won a new basketball. He as so excited that he won something. To end the teachable moment, I told him that he got the 3 free tickets and won a basketball because he did a good deed. I encouraged him to keep being honest and doing good deeds. He is the coolest Scout I know.

Since I have started using craigslist I have gotten use to the crazy bogus scam emails I get when I put something up for sale. I always laugh because they are just SO dumb. I mean come on people. The above one really gave me a chuckle though. I mean she is JUST trying to HELP me get my one million dollars. What a sweet kind lady to help me with all my leg work. Who new all I had to do was find this man and he would actually take me the bank and everything would be just fine. The sad part is that many people actually fall for crazy stuff like this. They want to make quick easy money without lifting a finger....must be democrats. So sad.

Im in pain!

Ouch! That is the main word that comes to mind when I think about this video. Marc has decided that to get us in shape we are going to do the workout that most personal trainers do. I am serious. I am literally so sore the thought of doing this again tomorrow is almost to much to think about. I have tried to tell him that we are not personal trainers and we need to start somewhere more in our range but in true Marc fashion he is not hearing it. Apparently we are ALL OUT ON THIS ONE! So I am doing the best I can for as long as I can. I honestly believe at one point during the video today I blacked out but Marc picked me up and made me continue my workout. Oh the pain. My shoulders are burning at the moment from even typing (oh how I wish that was not true) so I must go get some sleep. When he gets home tomorrow we will be at it again. He is a slave driver...he even has a spread sheet in excel....to track things....HELP ME PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

Jimmy put his raincoat on about 30 minutes before we left for school, Tommy on the other hand
not so happy about the raincoat. Im going to give it to Tommy on this one. Looks like 7 is to old to wear a raincoat ( A BRIGHT YELLOW ONE AT THAT), so he says. I couldn't help but take their pics. Jimmy was just so happy and poor Tommy was just not feeling it. My mother is pretty sure that raincoat is hidden behind some bush or in some trash can at school. Im pretty sure it will not be coming home this afternoon. I love my boys!

Time to get our teeth cleaned!

Tommy has LOVED getting his teeth cleaned since he was 3. I have no idea why but he looks forward to it. Today he was just so happy he got to check in to school late. I guess its the little things. LOL

Jimmy got to go for the first time. Here he is finding out exactly what they are going to do. He listened so well.

Gotta wear the glasses like big brother. I don't remember having the glasses when I was a kid. We were just blinded by the lights.

He could not have done any better! I was so proud of him. He loved getting a new Spongebob toothbrush and he couldn't wait to go to school to show all his friends.

When your seven year old JUMPS from the bus to show you his sticker proudly displayed on his chest that states "I want to be a cub scout" you really only have one choice. Everything in my body was telling me to RUN as fast as I could from this group. Seriously, I find this group of people just a bit "off" shall we say. Its my blog and I can say what I want! LOL. School is by far my first priority with Tommy but don't be fooled. Fitting in socially and personality are a CLOSE second. Again, its my blog and I can say what I want.
So fast forward to paperwork coming home daily from school about camping trips, field days, pine derby races and on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So you see, I really only had one choice. UGH. So taking lemons and making lemonade I thought it would be a great FATHER son activity.
While it is a Father son activity I had to go to the first meeting, you know to get ALL the CORRECT info. While I have not changed my tune on the group of people (I was actually convinced of it even more in many circumstances if you know what I mean) I did get a new outlook. What harm can come from teaching a group of 7 year olds to LOVE their flag, serve their soldiers, help the elderly, and have fun along the way. FINE, he can do it for a year. At that time I will reevaluate. LOL
By the way, does anyone want to buy some Popcorn! HA HA HA
