I need a vacation

Alright, so for several reasons I simply was not going to blog about the boys latest "adventure". In all honesty it has taken me several days to get to the point to laugh about this one. My mother on the other hand has found it extremely funny and was wondering why she hadn't seen the post. I will give you the condensed version as much as I can.

About two weeks ago we noticed the ceiling in the kitchen was drooping. No its not suppose to do that. Well Marc noticed this before he went to work and we did not have time to discuss it. So for that reason it may have slipped my mind to tell him the wee little part about the boys getting so much water on the floor during bath time the night before. Oops.

So thinking he has it figured out, he changes out the faucet in the tub that might have a leak. I mean really to me that made more sense. Could a little bit of water really do that much damage? Dont answer that. So after tracking down a stipple brush and trying to figure out how to redo the ceiling we almost had it fixed.

Fast forward to Sat. Mistake #1, the boys were playing in Tommys room. I heard them turn on the sink in the bathroom and told them to get out of the water! Then Marc tells Tommy to take a shower so we could get ready to go later.

Mistake #2 For some reason Tommy was born with blinders on. As Jimmy is coming downstairs Tommy goes in to take his shower. The only thing, he completely ignores the fact that the sink is still on, um and Jimmy had stuffed Toilet paper in the sink.

Mistake # 3 After a few minutes go by I say, Marc tell him to get out of the shower its been to long. At the same moment Marc steps on the first step I hear drip, drip, drip

Now at that moment a mother can do two things, she can either run upstairs to save her son from instant death by hands of father or grab some bowls and towels. Well folks, I grabbed the bowls and towels. I mean I really thought the ceiling was going to come through. The picture is of my kitchen just below the kids bathroom.

Not quite sure what happened upstairs but as Marc opened the door he made some sound that sounded like a wounded animal.

And as he threw the shower curtain back,,,, while standing in and inch of water there was Tommy happy as can be saying What Daddy? As Jimmy was running around downstairs laughing that it was raining in the kitchen.

I need a vacation.

Happy now Mom.

If it had not been for Al Gore inventing the internet, the digital camera and the chair you are currently sitting in, I don't know what she would do to pass the time. Although, I am glad she is able to capture and share these things with you and me.

I repay her by helping her relive her childhood via a "totally 80's" radio station. The song she is referring to is "Hysteria" by Def Leppard (probably playing in the background), for those of you who are interested.

I also let her wear my Swatch watch last night as we dined. And yes, it still has the yellow Swatch guard to protect the face. We are sooooooo cool.

Instant memory

Marc introduced me to the BEST radio station tonight and this song came on. I was instantly back in a skating rink in Manchester MO. I could instantly see all the lights (remember that strobe light thing in the middle of the rink). I was totally rocking the tight rolled jeans with a green and pink Izod shirt, and how cute was my hair all curled and in that banana clip! Josh Blackmore was there and I was so totally awesome because I was wearing his swatch watch. He was totally awesome because his swatch watch had those guards that went over the top. Two different colored ones. My favorite part was when the girls would go to one end of the rink and the boys the other. When the music started the boys would skate down and pick who they wanted to skate with. OH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let him pick me!!!! WHO is he going to pick..... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...........I might just totally die of embarrassment if no one picks me........... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH he picked me......................... oh..............my..................goodness..................he is holding my hand.................I'm FREAKING out!

Sigh.... Erica I am going to refrain from telling you how old I was as It might freak you out when you look at Tanner. Lets just say the song came out in 1987 and I was born in 1977.

Yipee!!!

Jimmy and I are going to the GA Aquarium. I'm so excited. I have been wanting to take him lately but its just so expensive. The last time he was there he was just a little baby and didn't get to enjoy it like Tommy. This is the best deal!!! Stephanie if you are reading this you have got to take a day off and take Haley. I'm sure her and Jimmy would get along. Anyway, I'm happy about my deal of the day. Christy you are awesome!!!!! Thanks.

Little Man and his bike

I'm so proud of my little Jimmy. He started riding his bike finally! Its really not his fault it took him so long. You see his Grandpa has a tendency to shall we say OVERBUY. So for the last year the bike has sat while we waited for little mans legs to grow a few more inches. HA. At first he thought the bike was broken because he thought it only went backwards. Once he figured it out though he was off! I literally had to run after him this morning. He rode all the way to the pool but realized the way back home was more of a hill. Thanks buddy that was fun carrying a three year old and a bike. I hope its nice this weekend so we can all go on a bike ride. I can hear Daddy trying to get out of it already. HA HA Way to go Jimmy!!!

For those of you picky parents he put his helmet on once I realized we were going so far.

My Man

My Man

Do you know what that is. That is a happy man. I took this picture on the way to the beach last summer. He just seemed so relaxed and happy. He told me yesterday that he is taking a week off work this year for Tommys spring break. I almost fell over. You have to understand that this man never takes vacation! I'm doing good if I get him to take a Mon and Tues once a year to take a long weekend trip. With me not working he has always worked that week and taken the extra pay. This man gets up at 5 every morning drives downtown works till 6 or 7 then turns around to come home have dinner see the kids and watch some TV with me. Basketball and Baseball season is a whole other story. I'm sure he has had to evade the police to get there at times. You might think he does this to have nice things or drive nice cars. He doesn't. He does it for me and the boys. I know it with my heart. He does it so I can be with them when they come home or when there sick or just need there Mommy. He never asks for anything for himself. If he has an extra dime he finds a way to do something with the kids. He makes sure they are seeing and doing all they can. I remember when I was 18 and thought I just might die if I didn't see him that night. HA As much as I thought I loved him then nothing can compare to my appreciation and love I have for him today as a husband and daddy.

If he reads this I'm going to deny it all!

Mom and Dad,

This must stop. Its not even April and I'm pretty sure hundreds of bunny's have already lost their fight to you two.

This must stop

I can not tell you how long this "car wash" kept little man busy. Thank goodness for pretty days. I got so much done! He has the cleanest Hot Wheels in town.

AHA!

I have been blessed with two of the coolest little boys in the world. Im sure everyone thinks that about their own children but really you would have to meet mine. HA HA They are always happy boys but something happens to them when they get outside. I watch them emerse themselves into the dirt. It is glorious to watch the sheer abandanment of it. They have not a care in the world but the feel of the sun on them and the dirt they are digging in. Im not sure what they are digging for but the have reassured me that they will let me know when they find it. I do have to say that it is very interesting all the things they bring to me in the search though. For some reason they think I want to see what dead creature or ooey gooey thing they find. I just watched them play in the dirt today and I thought to myself I have succeded in one thing. There is something about watching your kids enjoy life in its most simple form through the eyes of a boy and his Tonka Truck. So as I am up to my knees in Hot Wheels, Tonka Trucks, Spiderman, Star Wars, Bakugan, Lighting McQueen, some kind of green goo that keeps popping up, Spongebob underwear, and Fudgecicle stained faces, I get it. God new what he was doing. He knew me. Me and my boys... we are a perfect match. My heart is hurting a little less because I realize the little girl in my dream is just that a dream and my boys are real..and amazing and what it is all about. I believe Oprah calls it an AHA! moment.

Being the parents extraordinaire that we are we decided to take the kids to the High Museum to see China's Terracotta Army. Those were some cute little men but I digress. Marc's office is directly across from the museum so we parked and walked to get some lunch. It was a beautiful day and all was going so well. The kids were actually really good during the very long exhibit. We decided to push it and go see the Louvre Atlanta. HA that was fun. It was really cool and Tommy was getting into it.............although parts got him a little red in the face.

Then we got to level two

Level three

and level four

As you can you see Jimmy had enough Monet and Renoir for one fun packed afternoon. This is my life people.
Closer...............closer......................closer

Im not sure what Marc was trying to tell her.....but Im pretty sure we wont be asked back.

Johnny Appleseed

Presenting Tommy as Johnny Appleseed for Book Character Day

I can not tell a lie, it would be easier to move mountains then get this boy to dress up...

But on a positive note he DID read the book and for that I am very proud!

It took approximately two seconds for the bus driver to confiscate this stick!!!! She saw him coming with it and had it before he entered the bus. HA. She knows my Tommy!
I'm off to take more apple pies to school for snack ( the one part he did not have a problem with). Apparently I was not good at math last night at walmart.

Let me start by saying that my man can fix ANYTHING! Marc has the ability to fix anything in the house or cars. I love that about him. He usually never needs instructions as they only irritate him. ( you would have to know him) He is currently fixing our ceiling in the kitchen. Thats another story all together. He apparently needed to mix the joint compound (whatever that is) and this was his brilliant way of doing it (that I found the next day) Yes, that is my cake mixer!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I wish I could say this was the first time I have seen this contraption but it is not nor will it be the last. By the way that thing is in there pretty tight. That man.

I need your opinion

Update: It looks like this is a generational thing not a northern/southern thing. We are lazy. HA HA

When I was growing up we ALWAYS had dinner together at the table. Mom always had the food in the corning ware on the table. We each served ourselves. Well, I'm not sure what happened but I now only see the corning ware at Thanksgiving. HA HA. I'm not sure if I have gotten lazy or we are to much of a hurry or what but we generally serve from the stove. UGH that is really bothering me lately. I have a feeling this may be a southern/northern thing but I'm really not sure. So, here is my question.... do you serve from the table or stove? It looks like I'm gonna have to get me some corning ware. Let me know what you do!!!!
